Musical Director

Matt Conaway, Conductor

Matt is a Michigan native who has lived in our community for over 20 years. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education with Distinction in 2001 at Indiana University and Masters of Music degree from the American Band College of Sam Houston State University in 2010. He is a member of the Purdue University Band and Orchestras faculty and currently serves as the conductor of the Purdue Symphonic Band and Purdue Symphony Orchestra. He also serves as Associate Director of The All-American Marching Band and the Boiler Brass ensemble that plays for the Purdue Men’s Basketball games.

When Matt is not conducting, he is an award-winning composer with over 120 combined published compositions and arrangements. His work is known globally. Matt has worked with the Lafayette Citizens Band in a number of ways over the years, playing in the percussion section, serving a term as a member of the board, and guest conducting. We are excited to begin working with Matt in his new role as our musical director.


Bill Kisinger

William D. Kisinger, Conductor Emeritus

William “Bill” Kisinger, Musical Director Emeritus of the Lafayette Citizens Band, is a retired Associate Professor of Bands from Purdue University, where he was the director of the Collegiate Band, the American Music Review, now known as the American Music Repertory Ensemble, and Associate Director of the Purdue University “All American” Marching Band.

Prior to his appointment at Purdue in 1969, he taught at high schools in both Illinois and Michigan, where all his groups received superior ratings in state competitions. Bill Kisinger holds both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Illinois. A talented arranger with over 220 musical arrangements to his credit, Kisinger’s music is played by the Purdue “All-American” Marching Band and the American Music Review. He is also a virtuoso euphonium player.
